Lab Equipment

Main content start

The Yu Research Group is housed in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, under the School of Engineering and the Doerr School of Sustainability at Stanford University. We are fortunate to have access to extensive resources, laboratory space, and state-of-the-art instrumentation, and we are committed to building a collaborative environment where core facilities and shared equipment play a central role. Each instrument from the group has dedicated “super users” (which could be you!) who help train and support others in the lab. Our group is well equipped for applied environmental microbiology, molecular biology, and analytical chemistry study. Core microbiology instruments include biosafety cabinets, incubators, and centrifuges. For molecular microbiology, we maintain PCR and qPCR systems, a Nanodrop, gel electrophoresis setups, protein purification equipment, and other standard biochemical tools. On the analytical side, we operate UPLC coupled to high-resolution MS/MS, enabling advanced studies of chemical fate and biotransformation. Together with the outstanding faculty in our department, we strive to bring more cutting-edge instrumentation to Civil and Environmental Engineering, the School of Engineering ,and the Doerr School of Sustainability, and to establish our lab as a leading hub for innovation and discovery.
