PhD students

Yiyao Wei, Ph.D. Student.  Yiyao is from Wuxi, China. She joined the group in December 2025. Her research focuses on the environmental fate of contaminants and wastewater treatment technologies. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her cat and attending concerts. Life motto “There is no failure, only feedback.” 

Yiyao is leading projects on pesticides, with a particular interest in understanding their environmental occurrence, fate, and biotransformation across the food–agriculture–human–wastewater continuum. Her work aims to connect these different systems and better understand when, where, and how pesticide-derived chemicals are used, transported, and biotransformed throughout their life cycle, as well as identify the microbes, genes, and enzymes responsible for these transformation reactions.
